Thiruvananthapuram: In a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, Embassy Taurus TechZone (ETTZ) and the Forest Department, Government of Kerala (GoK), have partnered with Team Godspeed Kochi of the Indian Racing League to embark on a ‘Go Green’ eco-restoration drive to plant a tree for every lap driven by Godspeed Kochi in the 2023 edition of the Indian Racing League. The trees will be planted below the Kazhakuttam flyover in Trivandrum under the supervision of the Forest Department, GoK.
Speaking on the initiative, Anil Kumar, Chief Operating Officer, Taurus Investment Holdings India Real Estate Advisory LLP, said, “This is a one-of-a-kind campaign that has at its heart our responsibility to keep the environment green, combined with charting development and business in harmony with nature and in concurrence with our vision for Trivandrum.”
Pugazhendi Palani, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests at Indian Forest Service, GoK, said, “Conserving the forest’s wealth for posterity is our prime responsibility. When a car racing team in Kerala joins hands with the Kerala Forest Department in the eco-restoration programme, they make a strong statement to the rest of the world. I congratulate Shri Joseph Pottankulam, the Principal of the ‘Godspeed Kochi’ racing team, who proposed this idea, and partners ETTZ for making this first-of-a-kind initiative happen. From speeding to greening, KFD and Godspeed Kochi are a team now.”
Aditya Patel, Co-founder, Indian Racing League, added, “While our passion and thrust are to prepare a team for F1 through our F3 and F4, we are committed to being socially responsible, which shows in all our activities. Godspeed Kochi’s ‘a tree for every lap’ testifies to our social engagement, and the impact of this initiative sets us apart in the motorsports market.”
ETTZ has also taken up greening and beautifying the space below the flyover at Kazhakuttam, as well as engaging local communities to spread awareness around air pollution, the need for road safety, waste management, and the prevention of drug abuse by providing alternatives to this menace by bringing back sports as a life-building and enabling intervention.
A tie-up with Green Worms Eco Solutions, Kerala, is already in place to stop plastic waste. Activities are being concurrently carried out by this NGO to encourage responsible recycling of plastic waste in the state.
Embassy Taurus Techzone, a 1.5 million sq ft SEZ office space in Technopark, Trivandrum, is all set to open doors to their first tenant by December 5, 2023. A joint development of Taurus Investment Holdings India and Embassy Group, the project has become one of South India’s preferred IT/ITeS (Information Technology and IT-enabled Services) destinations. The office buildings of ETTZ are LEED Gold-rated and will offer quality, sustainable, and energy-efficient workspaces that are equipped to meet modern challenges.
ETTZ is a part of a larger mixed-use development in Technopark Phase 3 in Trivandrum called Taurus Downtown Trivandrum, which consists of a 700,000 sq ft mall (Taurus Zentrum), a non-SEZ office building (Taurus Yosemite), residential apartments (Asset Taurus Identity), and a hotel.
